Welcome to the Blog!

While I would like to think I will offer the best and most up to date information that is out there about Disney, it simply cannot be true. There are too many amazing blogs out there that already do that. And to be honest, I just don't have the time! However, I will offer my honest opinions and experiences as frequently as possible. This blog is simply a way to document my experiences and collect my thoughts while talking about the love of my life, Walt Disney World and Disney in general. Thanks for reading!

Kill Refurb Marry - WS Counter Service

It's my favorite time of the month! You guessed it! It's KILL REFURB MARRY time with Mouse on the Mind and This Happy Place Blog!

If you aren't familiar with the rules, every month they choose a category that relates to Walt Disney World. You then have to choose within that category what you would kill, refurb, and marry. This month's category is WORLD SHOWCASE COUNTER SERVICE LOCATIONS.

OMG how tough is this category? The World Showcase has got to be one of my favorite all time places to eat. I can think of at least four that I would take out on a date right this second. So how can I possibly marry just one? Yeah yeah...quit complaining....just choose!

KILL : LOTUS BLOSSOM CAFE
Picture
I had to kill something and the Lotus Blossom Cafe in the China pavilion just happens to be my least favorite of all. I struggled between the Liberty Inn and this one but in the end it came down to the fact that I'd choose Liberty Inn before I would choose Lotus Blossom Cafe for a meal. It's not that I have ever had a terrible meal here but it just really isn't all that unique. To me it is typical Chinese food that you could find at any little take-out restaurant at home. There is nothing that jumps out as something I must try or I'll never forgive myself. Also there is really nothing regarding the location or atmosphere that has me jumping out of my chair.  All in all, it's just fine. I hate to tell you this but fine is not going to cut it when we are playing Kill Refurb Marry. Sorry folks.

REFURB : YORKSHIRE COUNTY FISH SHOP
Picture
I have to refurb this one even though it's on my list of places I'd like to get involved with on a more personal level. The reason is simple. It's just tiny. And it only serves one entree. Now some might call it quaint which I wouldn't disagree with. The smallness might contribute to the hidden gem aspect of this actually fantastic little eatery. But I'm refurbing it anyways because well they told me I had to pick something and so I am! What if they could add a couple more options to the menu while still keeping it authentic? It seems to happen from time to time that one person in your party doesn't care for fish and chips, therefore you feel guilty for wanting to enjoy the deliciousness of fish and chips! If they had a few more things, maybe those mean people that I hang out with would let me go there more often. One other refurb option could be to add an indoor seating area as well as more outdoor seating options. Expand a bit, I dunno.

MARRY : TANGIERINE CAFE
Picture
Ok so I am assuming that La Cava or Tutto Gusto is cheating.....right? I'm more inclined to marry someone after I've had a couple of margaritas or glasses of wine. But in all seriousness, Tangierine Cafe????? WHAT???? Who would of thought that I would be a fan of Moroccan food? Two words people. Lamb Wrap. I am forever in love with the Tangierine Cafe and I don't care who knows it! I am only ashamed that it took me so long to venture out and try it. Not only is the food fantastic, but the seating area is really gorgeous inside and out. If you can nab a table just outside of the door under an umbrella next to the gorgeous fountain at the entrance to the pavilion than you have hit the jack pot my friend. Now I will admit, I've yet to experience Spice Road Table. I have a feeling I will like it even more or at least just as much. But until I get to try that one out, I am sticking with my new found love.

A December Trip Report - Day 6

2/1/2014

Saturday, December 7th, 2013

I have to shed a tear now because this will be our last full day at WDW.

We really had no set plans on this day other than our dining reservation that evening at The Turf Club at Saratoga Springs. Sometimes it's nice to not have a plan on the last day. It gave us a chance to think about what we missed and make sure to try and fit it in.

We all agreed that we wanted to go back to Animal Kingdom. This might be surprising to some, but due to the Wild Africa Trek on our first day, we didn't really get to some of the things we wanted to do.  Well and I just flat out love this park!
Picture
And while examining the Tree of Life a little closer, I noticed a new animal carving that I had never noticed before. Some of you may wonder where I have been, but I will admit I had never seen this particular animal near the base of the tree. This is part of the reason I love this tree so much, I see a new animal on every trip!
Picture
So our first order of business was to wander more around the tree. We wanted to go through all of the Discovery Island trails and see what we could find. I absolutely love these trails, there is never anyone back there. They really are one of my favorite parts of the Animal Kingdom and a great place to get away from the crowds. I was disappointed however that my favorite trail that takes you past the kangaroos and up toward the front of the tree was closed off. Not sure why or what they had going on, but we couldn't get the up close views I had hoped for. I also noticed the giant catfish looking thing was gone and his/her stream was empty. I hope he/she is coming back.
Picture
Next stop - some shopping in Asia and the Maharajah Jungle Trek.

When we arrived at Animal Kingdom on this morning, we decided that we might be in and out rather quickly since we just wanted to get to a couple of trails and the Maharajah Jungle Trek. Our thoughts were to head over to Downtown Disney at some point that afternoon. Since there isn't a direct bus to Downtown Disney and we would have to connect through a resort, we had wanted to possibly head over to Art of Animation for lunch and try out their food court that I have heard so many good things about.

That plan didn't exactly pan out. We were having a rather nice time at Animal Kingdom and once we got to the Maharajah Jungle Trek it was already after 11. Running out of the park and over to another resort just seemed like too much work at this point and we wanted a little more relaxation in our last park day. So we finished the trek and decided to have lunch at the Yak & Yeti Counter Service.

Oh and a moment of silence for the beautiful Komodo Dragon who just passed away last month.
Picture
I must admit, I am kinda glad we didn't leave the park to go to Art of Animation. True, I have been dying to get over there and check it out but I couldn't have been more pleased with my lunch at Yak & Yeti. Not only was the seating area just gorgeous, I really loved my meal. I decided on the Mandarin Chicken Salad. We had eaten like pigs all week and it actually felt amazing to have a light salad. It was just enough and not too much for me to feel refreshed and ready to take on the rest of the day.
Picture
After we finished, we were wandering by Flights of Wonder and saw that a show was beginning in the next 15 minutes. Score! There was also a margarita stand right outside of the theater. Double Score!
And as if it couldn't get any better, you can take beverages into the theater! Triple Score!

Now it was getting rather hot out, so you know that I jumped on the chance to have a cold beverage while seated in a shaded theater. The breeze coming through was amazing, and overall it was just a lovely time. Plus I love that show!
Picture
Picture
We decided we would head over to Harambe as our last stop, and then leave Animal Kingdom for the day. After listening to Radio Harambe for the last several months, I had the African Spice Cake on my list and I wasn't leaving until we had tried it. We still had quite a few snacks left on our dining plan as well, so it was only natural we would need to get the cake. So we ordered one African Spice Cake from Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery to share. I will agree with Safari Mike and Dave. It was really delicious and a great snack choice. I will be returning to Kusafiri for sure! Oh and if you don't listen to Radio Harambe, you definitely should. Why are you still here? Go....Listen....

Next stop was Downtown Disney as we had been talking about riding on Characters in Flight all week. I was disappointed but not surprised when we got there that the prices had been raised since my last "flight." I went on the balloon in 2011 and I believe it only cost around $13. This time it was $18. Not cool guys....not cool. But regardless, the other members in my group had not been on it before so I was excited to give it another whirl. I really love that this is in Downtown Disney. It is so fun to see more of Walt Disney World property from way up there.
Picture
Picture
We took the boat from Downtown Disney over to Saratoga Springs a little early so we could take a look around the resort while it was still light out. This was a common theme this week. We would arrive to our reservation a little early, the place was dead, so we got seated earlier than expected. I pretty much think I didn't even need to make ADR's for the restaurants I chose this week. That could be a good thing, or it could be a bad thing.

But in this case, it was a VERY good thing. For two reasons. 1, The Magic Kingdom was going to be open late this night, we wanted to get in as much time as we possibly could so eating early let us leave early and get more time at MK. 2. I like the fact that this place was dead and it's apparent that no one knows about it because it is AMAZING! I will continue to go here and the less people who know the better.

Whoops...I just told everyone.

We decided to sit outside since it was a really pleasant night and even a tad on the chilly side, except indoors the air was up so high it was even chillier. The outdoor seating area was really lovely and I am excited to go back and sit inside on the next visit. For this meal I ordered the Grilled New York Strip and the best part of all was that it came with a lobster fondue to dip the steak into. It was really really good. A favorite meal of the trip. For dessert I ordered the Chocolate Espresso Torte. Another success.
Picture
Picture
Ending our last night in the Magic Kingdom just seemed right. And we intended to stay as late as we could, or until we felt like we might pass out. We had so much fun on our last night. The crowds were low. We were able to catch the castle projection show again but from much closer up. I can't say enough how much I love this show. We got to do Pirates again (my fav), see the Enchanted Tiki Room for the first time as it was originally and not under new management. Such an improvement and I was actually shocked how much I enjoyed the show. I truly thought I wouldn't care either way, but I LOVED it. Hopefully my new friends at The Enchanted Tiki Talk Podcast (listen to them immediately) will be proud of me!

We then went back to New Fantasyland and hung out by Gaston's Tavern and enjoyed some popcorn from "Popping Machine" cart (still the cutest cart I've ever seen!). We slowly strolled back out and made sure to go through the stores on Main Street and grab any last minute items we forgot to get earlier in the week.

And now I am sad again, because it is over. Well...it's been over for almost two months now but this re-hashing isn't helping guys!

Thanks for reading! Until next time!

Friday December 6th, 2013

This seemed to be the first morning where we weren't rushing to get out the door and to the parks. So instead of heading right out, we decided to do some more exploring of the grounds of the lovely Coronado Springs Resort. I had stayed here on a previous trip so I was already familiar with most of the resort, but I wanted my mom and cousin to get to see more of it. It is funny that it took us 5 days to actually look around our resort. But I'm sorry, our room was literally 8 steps from the bus stop. Can you blame us that we only walked to and from the bus stop each and every day thus far?

A December Trip Report - Day 4

It has seriously taken me this long to get over to Epcot?
That NEVER happens.

Thursday, December 5th, 2013

Ok so you probably have guessed it. Today was Epcot day! FINALLY!

Not only was it Epcot day, it was surprise day for my mom. We had planned a Candlelight Processional Lunch Package months ago and this was the only reservation we kept from my mom during our entire planning process. I'm not really sure why I decided to keep it a secret, I just thought it would be fun. I will be honest, the Candlelight Processional is not something I've ever been all that interested in. Yes I love the Christmas story, yes I love celebrities, yes I love candles.....I dunno...I guess I've always just been too busy doing other stuff and haven't wanted to stop to get in line or pay the extra to secure my space. But I knew that she would just be OVER THE MOON about it.

So this trip we decided it was time to experience it. At least once. And luckily I was able to snag a Biergarten lunch reservation for it which is the cheapest one possible. Good news also, I LOVE Biergarten. So it's really a win win for everyone involved. So again I am cheating with my "only eat at different restaurants" approach, but I justified it in the fact that the Candlelight Processional package was new to me. So there!

We arrived at Epcot fairly bright and early. We rode Spaceship Earth right away and had fastpass plus selections for Soarin and Test Track anywhere from 9 to 11. Luckily I made the reservations before the dreaded tier system was put into place! We were stopped twice during our Test Track ride for several minutes. I have not had a seamless ride on Test Track in several years. And no, it wasn't raining.

Some entrance photos...

A December Trip Report - Day 3

Wednesday, December 4th, 2013

Day three of our adventure began with a very exciting breakfast reservation....The Kona Cafe. Now, I have been to Kona several times for dinner. It actually is one of my favorite restaurants on property when it comes to dinner. But I had yet to try it for breakfast. I really am not a huge breakfast person. Don't get me wrong, I like breakfast, but let's be honest...in the morning at Walt Disney World I would much rather be sleeping or rope dropping. Take your pick.
We headed out bright and early to catch our Magic Kingdom bus. My experience with the bus service at Coronado Springs has always been stellar. But for some reason throughout this entire trip it was extremely hard to get a Magic Kingdom bus. Six buses for Animal Kingdom would come before a Magic Kingdom bus. It was insane. We started out a little over an hour before our reservation, we arrived at the Magic Kingdom with exactly 10 minutes until our reservation. This is from exiting the bus. We still had to sprint to the monorail and make a stop at the Contemporary and TTC before arriving at Kona. I was extremely nervous due to the new "no show, no cancellation" fee that Disney is supposedly charging people for missing their reservations. We finally arrived, about ten minutes late, but luckily the hostess was very understanding and we were not penalized and there happened to be plenty of tables available.

Now on to the good stuff!!

Picture
I just had to try the Tonga Toast!

The Disney community as a whole talks about this particular meal more than anything so I decided it was time. I needed to see exactly what all the fuss was about.

For any of you who may not know the Tonga Toast is banana stuffed sourdough bread, rolled in cinnamon sugar and served with Strawberry Compote.

All in all, I have to say that I really did love it. It was worth checking out for sure and I will say it does live up to the hype. I am not great at describing tastes and flavors so I apologize for not being more descriptive. The strawberry sauce was one of my favorite things about it as well as the cinnamon sugar glaze.....YUMMMMM. I will definitely be going back to Kona for breakfast at some point.

After breakfast we were of course headed into the Magic Kingdom for our one and only day trip to MK. We returned later in the week at night, but this was the one day to try to get to the things we had planned. Most importantly was New Fantasyland. My mom and cousin had yet to see it, so we had plans to spend the majority of our time there. But not before we took some more pics at the Polynesian and made a quick stop to the Grand Floridian to check out some more Xmas decorations!

A December Trip Report - Day 2

Ahhh how I love Coronado Springs in the morning!
Picture
But we had places to go and people to see so we headed to the concierge lounge for a small bite to eat and coffee and then we were out of there pretty quick! First stop...Animal Kingdom!

Tuesday December 3rd, 2013
I was especially excited for this day of our trip because not only were we headed to one of my absolute favorite parks, we were also about to embark on something I had never done before at Walt Disney World and has been on my bucket list for a long time....The Wild Africa Trek. Our tour was not until 11. I had tried previously to get an earlier time for better animal viewing but it was not available and I did not want to miss it.
When we arrived at Animal Kingdom we took our time making our way to the Tree of Life and decided to head towards Harambe first. I am in the minority that on most trips we usually go right at the Tree and experience Dinoland and Everest first. We never were rope droppers for the safari, although after listening to the amazing Radio Harambe podcast I realized that we should have been hitting the safari first in order to see the most animals. It totally makes sense doesn't it? I just never had thought of it before. We had about an hour until the tour began so we really just took our time taking in all the sights and sounds of morning in Harambe. We decided to stroll through the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail, a favorite of mine. We had some fairly good views of the Gorillas. They were out and active but there was one who was more up close who was definitely toying with me. He/she had their back to us and would NOT turn around. I really wanted to get some great pictures of him/her but they were being stubborn.

It was now time for the most exciting part, the Wild Africa Trek. I'd like to save my review on this topic for a future blog post in my "Completing the Disney Bucket List" series (and I will shoot for sooner rather than later). But what I will say that it was amazing, amazing, AMAZING! I still find the price to be extreme. I hate that most people who go to Walt Disney World will never get to experience this or even know about it because it really was that good. I am glad at least that part of that ticket price goes toward conservation. I would like to know how much really goes towards it, but I would hope a good portion. Here are a couple spoiler pics from the Trek.

A December Trip Report - Day One

1/4/2014

It's been a month since my Walt Disney World vacation and life has been a whirlwind ever since. I've totally neglected the blog even though the recent trip should have served as the much needed inspiration for blog topics that I was lacking prior. However, with vacations, come extreme overload of catching up at your regular job. Well that is what it means if you are me anyways. I have been so behind ever since that I haven't had more than 2 seconds to even get a trip report up. Let's hope I still remember.

Monday December 2nd, 2013
I usually choose the earliest flight possible in order to get in the most time at WDW as possible. That was before I had children however. Children I would be leaving for the week who I wanted to make sure I could see that day. This trip was one I agonized over for quite a while due to the fact that it would be the first time I had left my daughter for more than maybe a date night or two. I also agonized over whether or not I should just take her. She is currently 18 months old. But to be perfectly honest, when it comes to WDW I believe myself to be a little bit selfish. I know there will be those of you out there who shout, "They are never too young for WDW! How dare you leave your little one at home?" Well, I thought about it long and hard and decided she was too young. Maybe I needed a little getaway, and c'mon guys she is my first. It was not too long ago that I enjoyed countless trips to the world with adults only, was able to do whatever I wanted, stay out as long as I wanted, drink as much as I wanted....you get the drift. I was having a little trouble saying goodbye to that world. True there would be things at Walt Disney World that would make her laugh which would make me laugh but I imagine there would be more things that would make her cry and then I would cry.....in my non alcoholic beverage....on the way to the room....at 7:00 pm.
As I said before...selfish.

But hey, I am not too terrible. I mean she was home with my husband all week. They needed that bonding. He appreciates me more now.

So back to the flight. The passengers were myself, my mother, and my cousin. Three gals on the town living it up. We were set to arrive in Orlando at around 3:45pm. I usually strive to be in by 9am but as recently explained, I had to make some adjustments to my plans. Our dinner reservation for that evening was at 7:30 at Tony's Town Square. The plan was to rush to the Magical Express, get to Coronado Springs, check in, drop our stuff, and rush over to the Magic Kingdom. I knew we would get to Tony's on time but I still wanted to be able to have some time in the Magic Kingdom that evening before dinner.

Magical Express was a breeze. We scanned our magic bands when we arrived, walked right onto a bus, and were the first stop to drop off. I might just be lucky but in the last 4 or 5 trips that we've used Magical Express I've been the first stop. Lovin' it!

Coronado Springs check in was also a breeze. We were in the one of the business class rooms in building 9B. It was insanely close to the bus stop. So close that we didn't even venture out into the rest of our resort until day 4. It was literally room to bus every day. We didn't even go to the lobby because we had a concierge lounge in our building that offered drinks, breakfast, small snacks. We went there most mornings to grab coffee and a bagel/muffin/etc and hit the road.
Picture
View of our building while standing at the bus stop. No zoom was used in the creation of this photo.
So on to the Magic Kingdom we went. I want to say it was close to 5:30 at this time and it was just starting to get dark. Not great for my photos I must say. I have never been talented at taking photos at night. I try and sometimes I will get one or two that look ok, but usually I just give up after that and decide not to waste my time.

Some Christmas decor photos on Main Street that I got before the lights went out.

Completing the Disney Bucket List - La Cava de Tequila

12/27/2013

Picture
So you may or may not know that I had never been to La Cava de Tequila in the Mexico pavilion at Epcot. There is something terribly wrong with that. My drink of choice has always been the wonderful delicious amazing margarita. So it is only fitting that I needed to cross this off my Disney bucket list as soon as possible. Something I was determined to do on our early December 2013 trip.
Not only did I manage to get there and try one of their delicious specialty margaritas, I got to try five different specialty margaritas! Slow down, before you stage an intervention, I did not drink all five and it wasn't in one setting. My family and I were able to make it to La Cava twice during our trip (and got a seat both times). Each adult in my party made sure to order a different flavor both times so we could then in turn taste the different flavors.

So are you wondering if a $14 margarita is any better than a margarita from Applebees for $5? The answer is an enormous .... HELL YES!!!!!
Ok yes I agree, these margaritas are ridiculously overpriced so it certainly deters you from heavy alcohol consumption. But I will say that I thoroughly enjoyed every single one that we tried, so at least I wasn't disappointed after spending that type of money.

Here are the drinks that we tried and my ranking from 1 to 5 in terms of my favorites (1 being my favorite, 5 being my least favorite).
PictureCucumber Margarita pictured here
1. Blood Orange - El Mayor premium silver Tequila, orange liqueur, sweet-tart mix of blood orange juice and hibiscus syrup, topped with wild berry foam served on the rocks with hibiscus Himalayan salt rim

2. Wild Passion Fruit - 100% Agave Tequila Reposado, ginger liqueur, passion fruit, mango nectar and fresh lime juice, topped with mango foam, served on the rocks with a hibiscus Himalayan salt rim

3. Cucumber - El Mayor premium silver Tequila, orange liqueur, caramelized pineapple juice, fresh basil, cucumber and agave nectar, served on the rocks with a cactus-lemongrass Himalayan salt rim

4. Pineapple - 100% Agave Tequila Reposado, ginger liqueur, caramelized pineapple nectar, fresh lime juice and agave nectar, served on the rocks with a cactus-lemongrass Himalayan salt rim

5. Avocado - El Mayor premium silver Tequila, melon liqueur, fresh avocado, agave nectar and fresh lime juice, served frozen with a hibiscus Himalayan salt rim

The Blood Orange was hands down my favorite and just delicious. I think I chose it and the Wild Passion Fruit due to the addition of the wildberry/mango foam. The salt used on each drink really makes a difference as well. At first glance at the menu I wasn't so sure about the salt, but it had a hot spice to it that really gave a nice kick to the flavors (I am horrible at describing tastes so forgive me). Cucumber was middle of the road for me, it definitely was still amazing and I think the oddness of the flavor choice makes it a must try. Pineapple and Avocado were last for me. Pineapple only because although delicious, I feel I have had drinks of similar taste before therefore it wasn't my first choice. Lastly Avocado due mainly to the fact that it was frozen and not on the rocks. I need my margaritas on the rocks!

La Cave de Tequila is a must do for all WDW fans, especially those who like to drink tequila. Not only does it offer great drinks, the atmosphere is really fun. It is a really small area which makes it all the more cozy and quaint. I will be visiting this place again my friend to get my drink on! You can be sure of that!

Completing the Disney Bucket List - Tutto Gusto

Ever since learning about the creation of the Tutto Gusto Wine Cellar in Epcot's Italy pavilion, it has been on my must do list for our next trip to Walt Disney World. I am happy to say, I finally got that chance!

What is not to love about this place really? And more importantly, what took so long? My only complaint is that I was having too much fun drinking that I forgot to take more pictures of its beauty.

It's not a large place. I would count that as a plus though. It's super cozy, a little dark, mysterious maybe? Much to my surprise it wasn't packed when we walked in. There are a couple of high top tables right near the entrance, and then a little alcove off to the side with some couches/comfy chairs and some more tables towards the back. We chose a high top and were able to sit right away. I knew that I wanted a wine flight. I love wine but am not a connoisseur by any means. In fact, I don't usually stray from my comfort zone of Reisling, Piesporter, Pinot Grigio on the sweeter side but not sickeningly sweet. I typically do not like reds or dry wine so that definitely narrowed down my selection quite a bit. I feel like Germany is more where the sweet stuff is. After telling the server the types of wine I usually drink, he had two wine flight options for me. The Crisp Italian Whites or another that I believe had some reds or blushes. Anyways, I don't remember the name obviously because I didn't order it!

Picture
I went with the Crisp Italian Whites for $14.

-Sauvignon
-Juti Lison Classico
-Pinot Bianco

The amazing thing was none of them were really all that sweet. All three were a little dryer than I am used to. I happened to actually enjoy all three. And yes you are correct, I know nothing about wine verbiage. All I know is I like to get silly and this gets me there!

The order from favorite to least favorite was:

-Sauvignon
-Pinot Bianco
-Juti Lison Classico

They all look the same in this picture so I am not going to tell you which is which. And yes, I am drunk right now and also can't recall.
Which brings me to my new favorite.....Sauvignon Bosco Del Merlo!!!

Picture
The server was nice enough to bring me the bottle so I could take a picture and begin my search in Michigan for this wine. I absolutely loved it! And I actually loved something a little less sweet for a change. I can definitely see myself drinking a whole lot more of it due to that fact.

I wanted to stay all day. I probably could of. It is experiences like these that make me sad that I'm not a local. My WDW trips are limited to yearly so usually I don't want to spend a lot of valuable time doing one thing. But if I were a local, I would rock this bitch daily!

The food offerings actually looked pretty interesting as well. I was on the dining plan however which naturally means that my pants would not button after about day two of the vacation. It was out of the question to order more food or I definitely would have checked out ALL that Tutto Gusto has to offer.

I will leave you now with a couple more interior pictures. The only ones I managed to get due to the fact that the alcohol was calling my name. Thanks for reading!

Play "40 Disney Dollars a Day" with Enchanted Tiki Talk - Animal Kingdom Style

11/27/2013

I've been kind of a flake on the blog lately. If anyone out there is reading....I apologize. I'm in the process of getting ready for a WDW vacation, YAY! Which in turn means my real life work has been crazy! Trying to prepare to become a week behind is not a fun task. But that is neither here nor there.

I'm talking about "40 Disney Dollars a Day!" Yep, it's that time again. My new friends (and I can now call them friends because we have actually spoken to each other on the phone) over at The Enchanted Tiki Talk Podcast recently put out Episode #6 where they played another round of this awesome game.

If you are not familiar with the rules, the game is simple. You have $40 to spend in one day at Walt Disney World on your food items and you must dine at one counter service location, one table service location with 18% gratuity, and have on snack item. All items should be something you'd really like to eat while at the parks. Sales tax is not counted.
Picture
This week they chose Animal Kingdom as the location. And they invited the Animal Kingdom expert himself, Safari Mike from Jambo Everyone to join in on the fun.

Let's talk lunch.
I'm a huge fan of Restaurantosaurus (although I would rather sit by the lake at Flame Tree any day). It's not that the food is all that different or great, but I just love being there. Not sure what it is exactly, but I dig it. So for my somewhat boring choice I will be getting the Macaroni & Cheese Hot Dog served with apple slices for $8.79. Two of the best things on Earth smashed together on a plate at WDW? Ummm...yes please! I'm going to stick with an tap water at this meal because I just ate a pile of mac & cheese on a hot dog.
Lunch Total: $8.79

On to my snack of the day.
Walk on over to Upcountry Beverages with me. I am thirsty from all of that tap water earlier. I have a hankering for a Frozen Emperor Margarita for $8.99. That's right, I am daring to be different and want to get a little silly with a cold refreshing margarita.
Snack Total: $8.99

Lastly, dinner.
As established on the show this week, we are pretty much limited to Yak and Yeti. I am especially limited with my expensive snack option. I need to keep it light guys! I have to make up for the 1000 calorie alcoholic beverage I just had as well as the mounds of mac & cheese consumed at lunch. Therefore my choice is the Mandarin Chicken Salad - chilled chicken, romaine and iceburg lettuce, Mandarin oranges, almonds, sesame seeds, rice noodles and plum dressing for $15.99. I'll throw in a Coke for $2.59.
Dinner Total: $18.58 with a gratuity of 3.34 makes $21.92

For a Grand Total of $39.70!
